spell-checker add-ons

Mozilla Firefox is well known as a popular browser with thousands of add-ons that will make our internet surfing experience become secure, easy, and fun. We can find any add-ons: download managers, e-book readers, offline page readers, pop-up blockers, web inspectors, password managers, even translation and language learning tools! Here I will tell you some of language-related add-ons for Firefox that I have tried. But, since there are so many interesting add-ons in Mozilla’s database, I simply want to show you some of them.

  • Ginger. Ginger is a grammar and spell checker add-on. It corrects grammatical and spelling mistakes when we are writing for blog and social media. It’s really effective to improve our writing experience. It works just like spelling checker in Ms. Word, but it runs online. When it goes online, it can work for Ms. Office and has an add-on for Google Chrome too. Ginger is active in the background (system tray) after its installation. It will show you a transparent semicircular application that will appear when you hover your mouse on top center of your screen. Ginger can also do rephrasing to your text so you will have an alternative of correct writing style. If you use Ginger, there will be no more worries to have bad words, typo, incomplete sentences, and other writing mistakes. You can download Ginger full add-on in http://www.gingersoftware.com/.

  • IrregularVerbs. When you install this add-on, you will have a new toolbar that will teach you irregular verbs. It will show you a verb in its base form, simple past form, past participle form, and the translation in French. The verbs will change every 5 seconds, 10 seconds, until 5 minutes, depends on the time interval you select. You can see the entire list of verbs by clicking “All” button and test your understanding about irregular verbs by clicking “Advanced – Free trial” button.

  • Grammarly Lite. Have you read my review about Grammarly—a site that will help you to analyze your writings? It also has an add-on for Firefox to help you to check your grammar, correct your punctuation, do contextual spell checker, and give you access to a thesaurus and an online dictionary. This add-on can improve your writing perfection for your web site and social media (Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Tumblr, etc.).

Those are only 3 add-ons that I have tried. I do suggest you to have them all in your Firefox browser to improve your learning experience. To see more language add-ons for Firefox, see here. If you are running another web browser, you might be better to visit its add-ons page to look for the similar add-ons there.
